I started my career by earning a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology, and spent the next several years researching mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria and Zika virus. Through this work, I was fortunate enough to live in Thailand and Cambodia for several years, as well as traveling to other beautiful locations for work like Colombia and Puerto Rico.
My favorite parts of being a public health researcher were writing code in SAS and STATA to run statistical analyses, and working with ArcGIS to conduct spatial analyses and build maps for data visualization. Eventually I decided to lean in to my interest in these more technical aspects of the job, and I signed up for a Javascript coding bootcamp to learn software development. Since then I've been working in startup environments building React web applications, APIs, data pipelines, and most recently learning about and leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs).
These days I make my home in middle Georgia with my husband and our American Foxhound, Layla. In my free time I enjoy hiking, lifting weights, studying Spanish, cooking/baking, and leveling up my DIY home improvement skills.
